Installment payments allow families to pay for a session over time rather than in one full payment at checkout. They are especially helpful for longer or higher-cost sessions.
| Applies to | District, School, and Provider Dashboards |
Before you begin
Log in to your District, School, or Provider Dashboard, go to Rosters & attendance > Session rosters, select the session, and scroll to the Pricing section.
Once you are in the session’s Pricing section, use the steps below to configure the installment plan.
Setting up the payment plan
1. Enable Installment Payments
To enable installment payments, select “Offer an installment plan” in the pricing section of your session.
2. Choose and configure the installment plan type and proration
2.1 Equal installment payments at payment dates
This option divides the total session price evenly across all installment dates.
2.1.1 Set payment dates
- Click Add an installment for each planned payment.
- Due Date is the date the parent is charged.
-
End Date is the last date covered by each installment. The field is optional and decides if payments are prorated:
- If no end dates are specified, all installments are to be paid regardless of when a student enrolls.
- If end dates are specified, they must be provided for all installments, and the latest end date should align with the session end date. In this case, if a student enrolls after the session start date, installments with past end dates are dropped, and the next upcoming installment is prorated based on the number of remaining meeting dates.
2.1.2 Enter the total session price
- Enter the total session price. The system will divide that amount evenly across the installments.
2.1.3 Optional settings
-
Down payment
- Enter an amount to charge at checkout before the remaining balance is split into installments.
-
Additional fee for the installment plan
- Enter an additional fee to charge families for using the installment plan. This fee is added to the total before the remaining balance is divided into installments. It does not affect the school management fee or tax amount, if applicable.
-
Prefer the Installment Plan
- Select this option to have the installment plan pre-selected during checkout. Parents can still choose a one-time payment if the installment fee is greater than $0. If the installment fee is $0, parents will be required to use the installment plan.
2.2 Specify installment payment for each payment date
Select this option to specify a different amount for each installment date (e.g., when some months have fewer session meetings due to holidays or breaks). The total session price is calculated by adding all installment payments and the down payment, then subtracting the installment plan fee.
2.2.1 Set payment dates
- Click Add an installment for each planned payment.
- Due Date is the date the parent is charged.
-
End Date is the last date covered by the installment.
2.2.2 Enter the amount for each payment date
- Enter the amount for each installment date.
2.2.3 Optional settings
-
Down payment
- Enter an amount to be charged as a down payment. The total cost of the session will be calculated as the sum of the down payment and all installment amounts.
-
Cost reduction for full payment at checkout (installment plan fee, may be zero)
- The payments above cover both the price and the installment plan fee. If the buyer declines the installment plan, the plan fee is waived. This fee does not affect the tax amount (if any).
-
Prefer the Installment Plan
- Select this option to have the installment plan pre-selected during checkout. Parents can still choose a one-time payment if the installment fee is greater than $0. If the installment fee is $0, parents will be required to use the installment plan.
Payment outcomes after setup
How the installment plan appears to parents at checkout
At checkout, parents can view the installment plan option and the payment schedule for the session. If Prefer the Installment Plan is selected, the installment plan will be pre-selected. If the installment fee is greater than $0, parents can still choose a one-time payment. If the installment fee is $0, the installment plan is required.
If a parent registers after the session has started, and the session installment is set up with end dates to enable proration, 6crickets automatically applies a late enrollment adjustment. The checkout summary shows the original session price, the adjustment amount, and the updated installment schedule based on the remaining payments.
How discounts and refunds affect installment payments
Discounts are applied proportionally across installment payments. Percentage discounts reduce each installment by the same proportion. Fixed dollar discounts are converted to a percentage of the total session price and then distributed proportionally across the installment schedule.
Important Notes
- Changes to installment payment settings apply only to future registrations.
- Existing registrations keep the payment plan that was in place at the time of enrollment.
- Test checkout after updating installment settings to confirm that payment amounts, discounts, and proration appear as expected.
