6crickets offers you an easy way to run a lottery for all classes held at your school. It basically uses the waitlist feature with the ability to randomly select students from a list and send invites to those students.
First, you will want to adjust the setting “Present the waitlist feature to parents as a” to “Lottery”. This is found on the “School Profile” page of the School Dashboard. Be sure to click save. Also be sure to communicate to your providers that they will need to set the maximum number of seats to 0. This will ensure the “Enter Lottery” option is displayed to parents.
The instructions below show you how to run the lottery for a class.
- From the menu to the left, under "Rosters & Analytics", click on "Session Rosters".
- Find the session you want to run the lottery for and click on the "Waitlist: #" link.
- Click “Draw a lottery” at the top of the list of students.
- Enter the number of students you want to draw, and click “Draw a lottery”. Student will be selected randomly based on the number you entered.
- Click “Invite selected students”. You will then be presented with an email template. Feel free to edit the template as you like, then click “Send Email”.
Once the parents receive the email, they can follow the "checkout" link in the message and complete registration.
