The snack tracking feature allows instructors and site coordinators to track which students are offered snacks or meals during a session. This information is particularly important for departments managing nutrition programs and ensuring that snacks provided are in compliance with fund-supported initiatives. The snack tracking option can be turned on or off for each session individually.
Enabling the Snack Button
To enable snack tracking for a session, follow these steps. Note, that providers will not be able to enable this feature—you will need to do this from the district or school dashboard.
1. Navigate to Session Rosters
From the district or school dashboard, select the Session rosters for the relevant session from the “Rosters & analytics” section.
2. Edit Session Details
Once you’re on the session roster page, click on a session row to edit session details, and scroll to the bottom of the page to “Additional Options.” Click on the “add snack button option.”
3. Activate the Snack Button
In the snack button settings, you will be prompted with a question: “Would you like to include a snack button on the roster to track snacks given to each child during the session?” Select “Yes” to activate the snack button for this session.
4. Save Your Changes
Ensure you save the session settings after enabling the snack button by clicking the pink “Save” button at the bottom of the module before exiting
Using the Snack Button
Once the snack button is enabled:
- The roster for the session will now include a "Snack" checkbox next to each student’s name.
- As you distribute snacks or meals, simply check the box next to each student who receives one.
- This will help maintain an accurate record of snack distribution, which is essential for reporting to the nutrition department or tracking fund-supported initiatives.
Disabling the Snack Button
If you no longer need to track snacks for a session, you can easily disable this feature:
- Return to the session settings where you enabled the snack button.
- Toggle the setting back to “No” to remove the snack button from the session roster.
This flexibility allows you to customize tracking based on the needs of each session, ensuring that only relevant sessions have this feature enabled.
