The After School and Education Safety (ASES) program, along with certain other grants, requires schools and districts to document the reasons for students' late arrivals and early releases.
You can activate this feature and set up a list of potential reasons from the District and School Dashboards by following the steps below. These specified reasons will be presented to the person who signs the students in or out, based on the number of minutes you set.
- From the district or school dashboard, under “Manage registration and attendance”, click on “Attendance taking policy”.
- You’ll see two questions and decide which one(s) you want to include (please note that the option “Follow district’s policy” will only appear on the School Dashboard).
- When selecting “Yes” to one of the questions, some options will display automatically. You can edit, remove, or add an option.
- You can set the minimum number of minutes before the end of class that a reason is required for early release, or the minimum number of minutes after the start of class that a reason is required for late arrival.
- Click the pink “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
