When a district adopts the restricted portal feature and imports student data from your district's Student Information System (SIS), district/school staff can edit student's answers to the custom questions. However, they can not edit the basic student information by default so that the district's SIS is the single source of truth.
Due to some complex SIS scenarios reported by some of our district clients, it is not always easy for SIS to have up-to-date student information. To this end, 6crickets lets the district staff configure a setting to allow editing basic student information, including student info, medical info, emergency and pickup contacts. This help article shows you how to authorize district/school staff to edit the basic student info synced from SIS and how to edit students' basic info and custom questions.
Note: The basic student information updated this way may be overwritten by subsequent syncing with the district SIS.
Allowing edits to students basic information synced from SIS::
- Log into your 6crickets account and go to your District Dashboard.
- In the "Manage registration and attendance" section, click on “Create/update student profiles & parent accounts”.
- Click the “Settings” tab.
- Select the checkbox next to “Allow school and district staff to edit basic student info in the student profiles”.
- Save the changes.
- Once this feature is activated, school/district staff will be able to edit basic student info, including Student Information, Emergency Contacts, Medical Information, and Pickup Contacts, directly from the roster page or the Browse students and parents page.
Editing student information:
- From the roster page: Locate the roster: From the school or district dashboard > Rosters & analytics > Click on "Enrolled: #" to go to the roster page > Click the pen icon next to the student's name.
- This pen icon can also be found by searching a student in “Browse students and parents” from the school or district dashboard.
- In the student profiles, staff will be able to edit everything except "Parents or Guardians" and Waivers. Provider Questions, School Questions, and District Questions are always editable from district/school dashboards. Fields that cannot be edited will be indicated with a blue “READ ONLY” tag.
